The Year 5 team played Bull Creek Leeming at Winnacott Reserve at 8.30am on Sunday 23rd August.
After a couple of weeks of terrific football played in wet and wintry weather, there were questions as to how the team would perform in the perfect conditions on Sunday. Any questions were soon erased. The team got off to a terrific start and continued to play some great football throughout the game to produce another superb 4-quarter performance.
Right from the outset, the team attacked the ball to win the contested footy. If we didn’t have the ball, they tackled hard and continuously applied pressure to cause turnovers. This has been a feature of their game all year but the second and third efforts have really been impressive in recent weeks.
When we had possession, they used the ball beautifully to find a teammate in great position. There were many occasions where we linked up by hand and foot to go from coast to coast, resulting in a shot on goal. It is great see the things we have been working on at training are starting to become part of their game.
The team is playing some great footy and continue to improve every week. We love watching them play, each game provides endless highlights and really is very entertaining to watch.
Unfortunately, our fine performance was soured by a few injuries (Liam, Max and Luke B). Hopefully, these are short term and the boys recover quickly to be ready for action again this weekend.
Thanks to our players who played for the opposition. Great to see you played in the same way you do for the Kats, even if you did kick a few goals for them!!
One again, it was tough to pick our player(s) of the day, there were many candidates but Oli and Angus played great games and were well deserving winners.
