• Year 7 Panthers v Melville
As predicted the Panthers had a final fixture against Melville at home on Saturday morning.
Third position was up for grabs and both teams were keen to finish in front.
Our boys had real drive though and led from the earliest moments.
With no bench they were starting to tire in the third quarter, but being 7 goals up could afford to let Melville get a couple back.
Melville had more scoring opportunities in the second half, but due to back line pressure only managed 3 goals and 7 points.
Winnacott came back strong in the 4th to finish on top 15.11-101 to 4.9-33 a wonderful end to a great season.
Congrats Theo on playing your 50th game.
This year every player has improved their ball handling skills, fitness and teamwork. Each game they’ve grown in confidence, it’s a weekly highlight watching them play.
Bring on 2021!
The Kats headed to John Dunn Memorial Oval in Kelmscott for our 5th vs 6th final fixture for season 2020.
We knew what to expect from Kelmscott having played them at home a fortnight earlier, going down by 37 points.
Kelmscott were fast, skillful and liked to take the game on at any opportunity.
In some of the wettest conditions the boys have played in all year, the ball pinged between the 50m arcs on the full size oval with both teams displaying tight defence.
Down by 20 points going into the last quarter, the boys lifted and gave it absolutely everything.
Quick fire 4th quarter goals all of a sudden gave the boys a real chance.
However a steading goal to Kelmscott sealed our fate with the final score being Kelmscott 3 goals: 9 points to Kats 2 goals:1point.
Kats goal scorers; Caden Mancini and Ben Elliott.
Big thanks to year 8 boys Sam Nelson and Zac Carlino for playing up and looking comfortable in this age group.
To all the boys that have represented the Kats year 9 team this season – thanks for being a great bunch of kids – we’ll improve again in season 2021.
