The Year 6 team played Melville at Winnacott Reserve at 10.00am Sunday 15th August.

This round we were fortunate to be able to celebrate 50 game milestones for two of our players, Taj Dunscomb and Angus Egan. Both are popular members of the team, and it was great to see everyone enjoy celebrating their achievement with them.

Melville got off to a good start, kicking a couple of quick goals early with the use of strong breeze. However, the team worked their way into the contest as the quarter progressed which was great to see.

The second quarter saw the team lift their work rate and play some great footy. The group regularly won the contest and used the ball well which was rewarded with a couple of goals.

After the main break the group continued to apply pressure and the repeated efforts were great to watch. We were kicking into the breeze and it was great to see the team nullify the opposition with some great defensive work.

In the last quarter we had a lot of possession and controlled the play for long parts of the quarter but didn’t make the most of our opportunities. It was a great quarter, nonetheless.

The team is playing some great footy and continue to grow in confidence each week. It has been great to see how much they have developed over the season. We all love watching them play and each game provides endless highlights.

Once again, it was tough to pick our player of the day, there were many candidates, but Luke played a great game and was a well deserving winner.
